It snowed today.
To some that may be nothing to think about, muchless write about. I even know that some people were unimpressed and quite grumpy about it.
But, it did...it snowed today and it was beautiful. This area of the country doesn't get a lot of winter weather, so it was a special treat.
I think the thing that has been most impressed on me, though, isn't the actual snow. All over the city, people were out in the snow...together...laughing, playing in it, making beautiful memories together...relationships strengthened through the building of snowpeople...simple playful relief in the midst of a world that seems daily to be crumbling down around us.
It's as if each snowflake was a whisper from God...a reminder that He is in charge; He is ever-present; a reminder to us of the amazing beauty He has put around us. A world He created for us to live in, to enjoy, to care for, to appreciate, to be thankful for. In the middle of winter, when everything is dry and seems lifeless - beautiful, pure white fell from the sky, causing us to all look up in wonder and amazement.
How He must yearn for us to do that every day...to look up, to look around outside of ourselves and our current troubles. To see the beauty that is all around us; to see what He has given us to enjoy and to be ever so thankful to Him for all we have.
Psalm 100:4-5 - Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever...
